On November 15, 2020, China concluded the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement ("RCEP") with 14 other Asia-Pacific countries, marking the inception of the world’s largest free trade zone. RCEP contains an entire chapter on investment (Chapter 10), which is equivalent to a mini-multilateral investment agreement and provides for protection standards commonly seen in investment protection agreements, such as national treatment, most-favored-nations treatment, fair and equitable treatment, and full protection and security treatment.
