Before joining Han Kun Law Offices in 2017, Mr. Liao worked with the Banking and Finance team of King & Wood in Shanghai. Mr. Liao specializes in banking finance, FinTech, financial compliance, asset management, and blockchain and cryptocurrency.
In the area of banking finance, Mr. Liao has advised on many international and domestic financing transactions including bilateral loans, syndicated loans, project finance, and assist clients in structuring projects, conducting due diligence investigations, participating in negotiations, drafting project documentation and providing PRC legal opinions.
In the area of FinTech, Mr. Liao has advised many FinTech companies and financial institutions on designing financial products, drafting legal documents, applying for financial licenses, and daily operations compliance in relation to third-party payments, consumer finance, and data compliance.
In the area of financial compliance, Mr. Liao has advised many financial institutions (e.g., commercial banks, consumer finance companies, and third-party payment institutions) on general regulatory issues, formulation of internal policies, and communications with regulatory authorities.
In the area of asset management, Mr. Liao has advised many trust companies and wealth management subsidiary companies of commercial banks on cross-border and domestic asset management transactions, including product compliance consulting, domestic and overseas investments, etc.
In the area of blockchain and cryptocurrency, Mr. Liao has advised many well-known institutions on daily operations compliance and legal document drafting.
