On January 19, 2015, Han Kun held a cocktail ceremony at the Four Seasons in Hong Kong to celebrate its 10th anniversary and the opening of its Hong Kong office.
More than 400 clients from different industries were invited to the ceremony. All Han Kun partners, counsels, associates, and support staff from its offices in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen, and Hong Kong attended the ceremony.
The theme of the ceremony was “Thank you for being there for us during the past 10 years.” During the ceremony, attendees viewed a video describing Han Kun’s gradual development during the past 10 years.
Han Kun’s Hong Kong based partner Dafei Chen delivered the ceremony’s opening speech. He expressed the firm’s gratitude to all of its clients, friends, and advisors, including government officials and industry leaders, for their long-term support and trust. He also thanked all of the firm’s lawyers, support staff, and their families for their professionalism, skill, effort, and support, which have led to the firm’s recognition by both clients and peers.
Mr. Chen also indicated that the opening of Han Kun’s Hong Kong office is an indispensable spring board for expanding the firm’s business beyond mainland China. Through the Hong Kong office, he hoped that the firm will further cooperate with international partners and provide better service to clients.
Mr. Kenneth Choy, a partner in Han Kun’s associated firm in Hong Kong, Choy, Cheung & Co., also gave a speech. He praised Han Kun for the high quality of its legal services. He also said he was looking forward to cooperating with Han Kun and was confident they could achieve success together.
Han Kun has grown over the past 10 years with its clients. When Han Kun was formed, it specialized in private equity and venture capital. When Han Kun’s clients invested all of the capital in a fund, Han Kun helped them set up more funds. When Han Kun’s clients expanded their businesses after receiving financing, Han Kun helped them with mergers and acquisitions and banking and financing transactions. When the time came for Han Kun’s clients to list, Han Kun helped them with their IPOs. When Han Kun’s clients wanted to utilize their expanding pools of capital, Han Kun helped them with their asset management and aircraft leasing matters. When Han Kun’s clients grew to become industry leaders, Han Kun helped them with antitrust matters. When Han Kun’s clients had disputes with counterparties, Han Kun helped them with their dispute resolution needs.
Accompanied by the band’s elegant melodies, the ceremony successfully came to an end. However, Han Kun’s passion and enthusiasm endured.
