On May 8, 2026, CLECSS announced that Han Kun partner Yu Zhang has been named as one of the CLECSS Top Ten Outstanding Young Lawyers for 2026.
Ms. Zhang is a partner of Han Kun's Transaction Department. Ms. Zhang specializes in domestic and overseas capital markets, mergers and acquisitions, venture capital and private equity and foreign direct investment. In the field of overseas capital markets, Mr. Zhang has provided legal services to numerous issuers and underwriters in overseas initial public offerings, overseas bond financing, and follow-on offering projects. Mr. Zhang has also represented various investment funds, domestic and foreign enterprises in investment and financing transactions, and participated in multiple merger and acquisition deals across industries including internet, new energy vehicles, education, real estate, logistics, and pharmaceuticals.
Ms. Zhang graduated from Xi'an Jiaotong University. During her time at the university, she also attended Taipei University in Taiwan, where she studied law as an exchange student. Later, she obtained an LL.M. degree in International Trade and Commercial Law from Durham University. Ms. Zhang subsequently studied common law at BPP Law School in London, where she undertook the Graduate Diploma in Law program and completed the Legal Practice Course.
CLECSS developed the 11th Top Ten Outstanding Young Lawyers list this year after a months-long selection process in which candidates were carefully evaluated in terms of their educational background, areas of expertise and location of practice, among other considerations. Most of these 11 outstanding talents named in the final list, including Ms. Zhang, are from both PRC firms and international firms. The 11 winners are standout lawyers practicing in Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen who continue to pursue professional excellence while serving as generous contributors to the legal industry.
