On June 20, 2024, Asian Legal Business (ALB) announced its annual list of China Top 15 Rising Lawyers. 15 ambitious young lawyers from across China are highlighted because of their potential to become the next power players in the legal industry. Their growing record of achievements, coupled with their expanding client portfolios, make a solid case for why they have what it takes to climb to the top. This year, Han Kun partner Xiaoming Deng has been named as one of the China Top 15 Rising Lawyers.
Mr. Xiaomeng Deng specializes in business dispute resolution, representing mainly securities firms, commercial banks and listed companies. With more than 10 years of experience in securities, asset management and fund services, he has represented many clients in securities misrepresentation, liability of trustees and custodians, shareholding disputes, etc., saving them billions of renminbi in losses. He also provides perennial legal advice for listed companies and financial institutions. Mr. Deng received his LL.B. and LL.M. degrees from Renmin University of China (RUC). He completed his J.D. degree at the University of Hong Kong and his LL.M. at University of Pennsylvania. He is admitted to practice law in China and New York State.
The China Top 15 Rising Lawyers were selected from hundreds of applications from law firms across China. The list was chosen based on the following criteria:
1. Significant achievements;
2. Important deals or cases;
3. Significant work in the last 12 months;
4. Clients the candidate has acted for;
5. Significant accolades the candidate has received for work in the form of public recognition, awards;
6. Clients' comments and colleagues' comments.
To be considered a Rising Lawyer, individuals need to either be under the age of 40 or have no more than 15 years of professional legal experience.
