The inaugural Han Kun Youth Legal Scholarship award ceremony was held in the Beijing office of Han Kun Law Offices on July 8, 2012. Five winners were awarded the scholarship, RMB 100,000 each. They are: Ms. Xia Ying from Peking University, Mr. Liu Yisheng from Tsinghua University, Ms. Xiong Yan from Renmin University of China, Mr. Ma Yingnan from the University of International Business and Economics, and Ms. Chen Aibi from Fudan University. Other five excellent finalists were awarded RMB10,000 each. They are Mr. Feng Jun from Peking University, Mr. Zeng Wenke from Tsinghua University, Ms. Chen Xu from Peking University, Ms. Ruan Xingfei from Hong Kong University, and Mr. Dong Xuchao from Peking University. The scholarship aggregated RMB 550,000.

For the purpose of encouraging outstanding legal talents to pursue advanced legal studies, at the year end of 2011, Han Kun launched the "Han Kun Youth Legal Scholarship" to award those exceptional young graduates from Domestic universities with outstanding academic records, and who are going to attend top-tier Chinese or foreign law schools for recognized university degrees with a plan to pursue a legal career in Mainland China after completion of their advanced legal studies in China or abroad.
The Scholarship was inaugurated at the year end of 2011 and has received applications from hundreds of undergraduates and graduates of law schools throughout China. After several rounds of selection including paper examination, written tests and interviews by Han Kun partners, 10 applicants were chosen as finalists to participate in the final. These 10 finalists are from prestigious universities in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou. The judging panel for the final was composed of professors from Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, University of International Business and Economics, and China University of Political Science and Law. Upon face-to-face interview, the panel selected the five winners. The Han Kun Youth Legal Scholarship will be granted to elite law student annually starting from 2012.
