The 2014 Han Kun Youth Legal Scholarship award ceremony was held in the Beijing office of Han Kun Law Offices on July 5, 2014. The scholarship is open to law school students from all of Mainland China's universities. The award amount of the 2014 Scholarship totaled RMB550,000.
Five winners were awarded a scholarship of RMB 100,000 each:
Liu Beiming, Renmin University of China, admitted to University of Michigan law school
Sun Yinghui, China University of Political Science and Law, admitted to New York University
Tao Yanru, Tsinghua University, admitted to University of Chicago
Wu Shuang, Renmin University of China, admitted to Duke University
Zhang Kangle, Peking University, admitted to University of Helsinki
Other 5 finalists were granted an award of RMB 10,000 each:
Chen Fanhong, China University of Political Science and Law, PhD candidate of China University of Political Science and Law
Chen Jiayi, Shanghai Jiaotong University, admitted to Cornell University
Kong Shuai, Shanghai Jiaotong University, admitted to Harvard University
Xia Daile, Peking University, admitted to Columbia University
Zeng Si, Peking University, admitted to Yale University

For the purpose of encouraging outstanding individuals with legal talents to pursue advanced legal studies, at the end of 2011, Han Kun launched the "Han Kun Youth Legal Scholarship" to award those exceptional young graduates from Mainland Chinese universities with outstanding academic records who plan on attending top-tier Chinese or foreign law schools for recognized university degrees with the plan to pursue a legal career in Mainland China after the completion of their advanced legal studies in China or abroad.
The previous two sessions of Han Kun Youth Legal Scholarship held in 2012 and 2013 were great success. The 2014 Han Kun Youth Legal Scholarship, launched at the end of 2013, is the third session of the program. Over hundreds of undergraduates and graduates from law schools throughout China has applied for the Scholarship. After several rounds of selections including paper examinations, written tests and interviews by Han Kun partners, 10 applicants were chosen as finalists to participate in the final. The judging panel for the final was composed of deans and professors from law schools of Peking University, Tsinghua University, Renmin University of China, China University of Political Science and Law and University of International Business and Economics. After conducting face-to face interviews, the panel selected 5 students as the winners.
Prominent officials from the Judicial Bureau and the Lawyers Association of Beijing Municipality and Beijing Dongcheng District were present at the award ceremony, expressing their congratulations to the winners and finalists.
