The 2016 Han Kun Youth Legal Scholarship award ceremony was held in the Beijing office of Han Kun Law Offices on July 2, 2016. The scholarship is open to law school students from all of Mainland China's universities. The award amount of the 2016 Scholarship totaled RMB550,000.
Five winners were awarded a scholarship of RMB 100,000 each:
Shang Lin, University of International Business and Economics, admitted to University of Oxford
Wang Bowen, Peking University, admitted to University College of London
Wu Kaijie, Renmin University of China, admitted to University of Michigan
Xue Kun, Peking University, admitted to Harvard Law School
Zhou Xiaoqi, Tsinghua University, admitted to Harvard Law School
Other 5 finalists were granted an award of RMB 10,000 each:
Fang Fang, China University of Political Science and Law, admitted to University of Oxford
Li Qianyao, China University of Political Science and Law, admitted to New York University
Peng Yali, Tsinghua University, admitted to University of Chicago
Shi Zhiqiang, Peking University, admitted to University of Tokyo
Zhang Anqi, Tsinghua University, admitted to Harvard Law School

For the purpose of encouraging outstanding individuals with legal talents to pursue advanced legal studies, at the end of 2011, Han Kun launched the "Han Kun Youth Legal Scholarship" to award those exceptional young graduates from Mainland Chinese universities who plan on attending top-tier Chinese or foreign law schools for recognized university degrees with the plan to pursue a legal career in Mainland China after the completion of their advanced legal studies in China or abroad.
The previous four sessions of Han Kun Youth Legal Scholarship held were great success. The 2016 Han Kun Youth Legal Scholarship, launched at the end of 2015, is the fifth session of the program. Over hundreds of undergraduates and graduates from law schools throughout China have applied for the Scholarship. After several rounds of selections including paper examinations, written tests and interviews by Han Kun partners, 10 applicants were chosen to participate in the final test. The judging panel for the final was composed of Han Kun partners, and deans and professors from law schools of top Chinese universities. After conducting face-to face interviews, the panel selected 5 students as the winners.

The establishment of Han Kun Youth Legal Scholarship is meant to award those young individuals who have the legal talents and ambition to promote the sustainable development and prosperity of China's legal industry."
