Work experience

Ms. Yao Wang has been practicing law since 2019. Prior to joining Han Kun, Ms. Wang completed internships at the Office of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, as well as at the Beijing and Shanghai offices of Zhong Lun Law Firm.  She later joined Zhong Lun Law Firm's Shanghai office in 2021 and practiced there for nearly five years.  In addition, Ms. Wang has been seconded to a Fortune 500 commodities trading company, where she handled legal matters for its seven Chinese entities for nearly one year.
Ms. Wang focuses on cross-border and domestic mergers and acquisitions, foreign direct investment, data compliance, and corporate matters.  She has advised numerous multinational companies on their investments, acquisitions and daily business operations in China, with clients spanning industries such as industrial manufacturing, healthcare, life sciences, automotive, energy, retail, fin-tech, and logistics.  In addition, Ms. Wang is also focused on data protection, providing legal services in cybersecurity and personal information protection to many businesses, establishing data compliance systems for enterprises, and assisting them in navigating regulatory procedures for cross-border data transfers.

Educational background

Ms. Wang received an LL.B. degree from Jilin University School of Law in 2017, along with a minor Bachelor of Arts in English.  In 2018, she obtained the DELF B2 diploma in French and was sponsored by the China Scholarship Council (CSC) to study in Switzerland.  She then received an LL.M. in International and European Law from the University of Geneva School of Law in 2019, and an LL.M. degree from Renmin University of China Law School in 2021.
